Wendell I. Elliott, 91, of Webster City, died Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Southfield Wellness Community. Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Asbury United Methodist Church, with Rev. Linda Bibb officiating. Burial will be prior to the service at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday. Graveside military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post # 191. Wendell Ivan Elliott, son of Harold and Clara Christenson Elliott, was born January 24, 1920 at Webster City. He received his education in Webster City schools, graduating from Lincoln High in 1938. He started farming with his father southwest of Webster City. During W.W. II, he served in the U. S. Navy. On February 9, 1947, he married LaVonne Marie Snell in the Asbury United Methodist Church. The couple operated a grain and livestock farm in Webster Township of Hamilton County. He retired from farming in 2003. LaVonne died July 15, 2006. He had resided at Southfield since July of 2011. Mr. Elliott is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Dr. Jeri Elliott of Webster City; Beth and Dave Peterson of Mason City; Kris and Jim Hallenberg of Plymouth, MN; grandsons, Weston and Blake Hallenberg; sister, Arlene Rudy of Glidden; brother, Marvin (Andrey) Elliott of Webster City; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Warren and Arline Snell of Webster City, several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Bert Picht; brother-in-law, Fred Rudy. Wendell was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church; Diamond K Kiwanis; former Webster City Elks Lodge member; Hamilton County and Iowa Pork Producers; Hamilton County Beef Producers; Hamilton County Saddle Club; was a former board member of the Highview CO-OP and was a longtime 4-H leader.
