Wayne Hemmen, 83, of Webster City, died Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Southfield Wellness Community. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Foster Chapel. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at Fosters one hour before the service on Wednesday. Wayne Leroy Hemmen, son of Harold and Ruth Seaboch, was born May 28, 1929 at Kamrar. He received his education in the Williams area. On June 7, 1947, he married Carol Lovelace at Fort Dodge. The couple resided in Webster City where he was employed at Nissen's in meat sales for about 20 years. He then worked as an insurance agent with Kentucky Life for a short time. In 1970, he worked at Des Moines Dressed Beef. In 1974, he started his own custom meat business. He retired in 1985. He is survived by his wife, Carol; daughter and son-in-law, Carla and Doug Youngdale of Webster City; son and daughter-in-law, Harley and Kayte Hemmen of Cedar Falls; son-in-law, Robert Gayle of Marshalltown; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Wanda Maier of Ames; brother, Ronald (Leila) Hemmen of Webster City; several nieces and nephews. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Hyla Gayle; grandson, Troy Youngdale; brother-in-law, Richard Maier. He was a member of the Webster City Family Moose Center and was a 40 year member of AA, where he was a sponsor and counselor.
