Roberta Teig

Roberta Teig, 85, of Webster City, died Wednesday July 3, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at the Foster Chapel, with Rev. Suzie Moore officiating. Burial will be in the Lawn Hill Cemetery in Stanhope. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 11:30 a.m. until service time. Roberta Vernell Whalen, daughter of Edgar and Irene Davis Whalen, was born December 8, 1927 in Stanhope. She attended rural schools in Stanhope and graduated from Stanhope Community School. On July 7, 1946, she was united in marriage to F. Wayne Teig in Stanhope. The couple farmed in the Stanhope area until 1958, when they moved to Webster City. She had worked at Nissens, Montgomery Ward, Goodyear, and Bettis Appliance before retiring in 1990. She is survived by her daughters, Diane Teig of Jewell and Cindy (Craig) Lovelace of Webster City; three grandchildren, Adam Lovelace of West Des Moines, Erin (Terry) Chrisitan of Webster City and Josh (Peggy Lyons) Lovelace of Webster City; two great-grandchildren, Madison Doyle and Evan Christian; two nephews, Richard (Bonnie) Whalen of Stanhope and Jerald (Kris) Whalen of Altoona. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ralph Whalen; and sister-in-law, Nioma Whalen. Roberta was a member of the Stanhope Parish.
