Richard "Dick" Shaw, 74, of Ogden died Saturday, October 29, 2011 following a farming accident near Ogden. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Community United Methodist Church, with Revs. Gary Hoyt and Steve Satre officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery at Webster City. Visitation will be at the church From 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and prior to the service on Wednesday. Arrangements were made with the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center in Webster City. Richard Dean Shaw, son of Merle and Mamie Springer Shaw, was born November 9, 1936 at Colorado Springs, CO. The family moved to Gowrie in 1948 and he graduated from Gowrie Public School in 1955. On February 24, 1955, he married Sandra Kay McFarland at Des Moines. The couple resided in Webster City and he worked at Forrester Dairy for a short time. He then started farming northeast of Stratford. They moved to Colorado Springs where he graduated from Jones University and worked with Colorado Springs Realty for several years. He later returned to farming in the Ogden, Boxholm and Stratford areas. He had been farming with his son, Mike, grandsons, Troy and Kendall and his wife, Sandra. Dick is survived by his wife, Sandra; daughter, Debra (John) Berger of Diagonal; sons, Michael (Sherry) Shaw of Ogden; Rollie Shaw of Jefferson; Gaylin (Debbie) Shaw of Grand Junction; Terry (Amy) Shaw of Madrid; grandchildren, Wendy Hoyle; Shane, Kaylin and Jenna Berger; Troy, Kendall, Ashley, Alissa, Dani, Becky, Jacob, Payton and Jackson Shaw; great-grandchildren, Cooper Hoyle; Sadie Jo, Hunter, Braden and Shala Berger. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Chance Westergaard. He enjoyed attending car shows with his '51 Ford and his son, Rollie. His main interests was his family and farming.
