Ray Lawson, 81, of Webster City, died at his home Friday, July 19, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Asbury United Methodist Church, with Rev. Amundson officiating. Burial will be in the Alden Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and at the church prior to the service. Graveside military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post # 191 of Webster City. Raymond Glen Lawson, son of Samuel and Frances Mayfield Lawson, was born November 9, 1931 on the family farm in Alden. He received his education in the Alden Public School graduating in 1950. He served in the U.S. Navy. On November 22, 1952, he married Juanita Mae Burns at Alden. Following his discharge, the couple resided in Alden. They moved to Burbank, CA in 1960. He worked as an operating engineer and retired as a superintendent with the Bock Company after 31 years of service. In 1995, they moved to Webster City. Mrs. Lawson died June 9, 1999. He continued to reside in Webster City, where he owned and operated Lawson Lawn Care. Mr. Lawson is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca and Phil Baumgarner of Auburn, CA; Debra and Bob Cassday of Grandview, MO; son, Jeff Lawson of Bettendorf; sister, Dorothy Schultz of Eldora; grandchildren, Raymond Lawson, Stephanie Powers, Jason Williams, Lindsey Jensen, Rylee, Cooper and Raya Lawson; great-grandchildren, Dana Dickinson and Luke Peevey; loving companion, Karen Weir and her family; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, James Kenneth Lawson in 1975; his parents, Sam and Frances Lawson; brothers and sisters, Doris, Irene, Kathy, Marie, Lloyd (Dutch) and Floyd. Ray was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church, Acacia Masonic Lodge # 176 - AF and AM in Webster City for over 50 years, Operating Engineers for 33 years, and American Legion Post # 191.
