Myrtle Miller

Myrtle A. Miller, 88, of Story City, formerly of Stanhope, died Thursday, June 16, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. A Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, June 24 at 1:30 p.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Stanhope. Burial will be in the Lawn Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at Bethany Life Communities in Story City. Myrtle Arlene Oakland, daughter of John and Hannah Teigland Oakland, was born November 9, 1922, in Jewell. She attended elementary school in Randall and graduated from Story City High School. She married Arnold Miller on Sept. 20, 1940, in Randall. The couple resided in Stanhope. She moved to Story City in October 2010. She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-laws, Ronald and Diane Miller, West Des Moines; Dennis and Sue Miller, Fort Collins, Co; and a daughter, Janet Beach, Kansas City, Mo.; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and her sister Esther Miller, Story City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Our Savior's Lutheran Church and Bethany Life Communities.
