Merlin Doolittle, 85, of Webster City, passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at his home, surrounded by his family. Private family services will be held at a later date. Merlin Lloyd Doolittle, son of Ed and Rhoda McGuire Doolittle was born September 23, 1928 in Webster City. He graduated from Webster City High School in 1945. Merlin served in the United States Air Force for 3 years during the Korean War. On November 7, 1954, he married Marlene Johnson at his parent's home in Webster City. The couple farmed north of Webster City. Merlin was a semi-truck driver from 1968 until 2013. Marlene preceded him in death on March 29, 2006. Merlin is survived by his children, Sally Stewart and Diane Warren, both of Fort Collins, CO, Mark (Christine) Doolittle of Des Moines and Debbie (Conrad) Grunwald of Woolstock; five grandchildren and his companion, Luella Froisland of Manson. Merlin was a member of the Church of Christ, the VFW, Moose Lodge, Farm Bureau and the American Legion Post 191.
