Mary Powell

Mary Powell, 89, of Webster City, died Saturday, February 18, 2012 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice House at Fort Dodge. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Foster Chapel, with Rev. Tony Ede officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral service at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center. Mary Virginia Jondal, daughter of Bert and Mabel Christenson Jondal, was born December 30, 1922 on a farm near Duncombe. She attended rural school near Duncombe. On April 15, 1946, she married Russell (Bud) Weldon Powell at Duncombe. The couple resided in the Webster City area. She had worked at Nissen and Son for many years. She retired in 1974 following an injury in the work place. Mr. Powell died January 25, 1991. She had resided at Crestview Senior Living since November 2003. Mary is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Charles Draeger of Stratford; Karen (Rick Leeper) Draeger of Webster City; Norma and Bob Coers of Eagle Grove; Lois Cornelison of Webster City; son, Riley Powell of Webster City; son-in-law, Harold Cornelison of Webster City; 19 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Howard Jondal of Webster City; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Harold Jondal; sisters, Mattie Jondal and Marjorie Huisinga; a grandson; and a great-granddaughter.
