Mary Jondal

Mary Jondal, 78, of Ankeny, died Thursday, August 15, 2013 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Graveside services will be held on Monday, August 19, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Graceland Cemetery. A time of fellowship will follow the graveside at the Moose Family Center. Arrangements were made with the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center. Mary Ruth Conkling, daughter of Francis and Hazel Jones Conkling, was born October 10, 1934 in Webster City. She received her education in the Webster City school system, graduating in 1952 from Lincoln High. On July 5, 1957, she was united in marriage to Donald Howard Jondal in Webster City. The couple resided in Burlington for 30 years before moving to Webster City in 1986. Mr. Jondal died January 15, 1987. She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-laws, Randy and Kim Jondal of Ankeny; Mark and Sally Jondal of Morning Sun; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Mary enjoyed helping at the Moose Family Center, her likes included decorating cakes, sewing, crafts, and watching game shows. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Neil Baker, Homer, Harville (Bud) and Herbert Conkling; sisters, Julia Conkling and Dorothea Dingman Heckenberg.
