Jean Wells, 88, of Webster City, died Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at the Van Diest Medical Center. Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Faith United Methodist Church, with Rev. Mike Willer officiating. Private burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Martha Jean Wells, daughter of George and Marvel Vasbinder Wells, was born August 17, 1924 at Reynoldsville, Pennsylvania. She moved with her parents to Webster City as a young child. She received her education in the Webster City school system, graduating from Lincoln High in 1942. That same year, she started employment with the Selective Service System. She retired in 1976. Jean is survived by sister, Lois Jacobson Crawford of Webster City; sisters-in-law, Royetta Wells of Ankeny; Mary Wells of Des Moines; nieces, Candy (Dan) Richter of West Chatham, MS and Ginny (Tim) Coneford of Belgrade Lake, Maine. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Maris and George Wells; sisters and brothers-in-law, Norma and James Lohse; Mavis and David Hoyt; Armelia and Donald Burnett and LeRoy Jacobson. Jean was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church and held various offices in the church, secretary/treasurer for the Webster City Country Club for 50 years, was an avid golfer and was a member of the Webster City Bowling Association.
