Marjorie Sheldon, 88, of Webster City, died Friday, May 10, 2013 at Southfield Wellness Community. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Foster Chapel, with Pastor Alan Sheldon officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at Fosters from noon to service time. Marjorie Maxine Adcock, daughter of Charles and Helen Laird Adcock, was born October 3, 1924 at Meadow Grove, Nebraska. She graduated from Hastings, NE high school, and then attended Kearney State Teachers College. During W.W. II, she worked for the U.S. army Engineers at the Kearney Army Air Base. On July 6, 1946, she married Stanley Earl Sheldon. They moved to Jefferson in 1948 and to Webster City in 1951. She worked as a secretary for several insurance agencies in Webster City and finished her career as an Independent Insurance agent. Upon retirement, she and Stan enjoyed attending Big Red Nebraska football games in Lincoln. They also began traveling to Stan's Troop Carrier Group reunions in various cities around the country. Since 2008, Marjorie has been a resident at Southfield Wellness Community. She and Stan both liked their assisted living apartment very much. Marj was a regular at the bingo games. Stan died September 23, 2012. They had been married for 66 years. She is survived by her daughter, Constance Schwarz of Polk City; cousins, Marvin Adcock of Shenandoah; Gerald Adcock of Omaha, NE; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Caroline Bair; brothers, Bud and Ross Adcock. Marjorie was a member of the Church of Christ and American Legion Auxiliary. Memorials may be given to the Church of Christ or the American Cancer Society.
