Marjorie Mardock

Marjorie A. (Welch) Mardock, 89, of Spirit Lake, formerly of Webster City, died Sunday, October 14, 2012 at Hilltop Care Center in Spirit Lake. Private family services will be held at a later date. Marjorie Alnora Welch, daughter of Forest and Ruth (Schauf) Welch was born on August 12, 1923 in Batavia, Iowa. She married Chester Paxton on August 26, 1940 in Memphis, MO. They raised 3 children; Barbara Louise, Ronald Allen, and Sylvia Joyce while farming in the Kamrar, Blairsburg, and Webster City, IA. area. She enjoyed her card and craft clubs, helping on the farm, preparing meals for the men in the field, but most of all she loved taking care of her family. After retirement they moved to Webster City. After Chet's death, she married Ben Mardock from Andover IL. on October 12, 1984. The couple resided in Pharr, TX for many years until moving to Spirit Lake, IA to be near family. Survivors include her husband, Ben of Spirit Lake; her children, Ronald Paxton/ (Angela Katava) of Colorado Springs, CO. and Sylvia (Bruce) Keenan of Spirit Lake, IA.; her grandchildren, Damon Paxton of Port St. Lucie, FL., Danielle Kelley of Broomfield, CO., Amber Paxton of Gainsville, FL., Matthew Keenan (Angela) of Spirit Lake, IA., Staci (Michael) Nevinski of Des Moines, IA. and Tracie Mardock of Montana; several great-grandchildren; and her brother, Raymond Welch of Davenport, IA., step-son; James (Karen) Mardock of Maple Grove, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband in 1983, her daughter, Barbara Paxton in 1960, and four sisters, and one step-son.
