Lois K. Wilke, 98, of Webster City, died Saturday, June 30, 2012 at the Southfield Wellness Community, where she had been residing for the last five years. Lois Kathlyn Forrester, daughter of Earl and Emma Thoe Forrester was born on March 2, 1914 in Postville, Iowa. She graduated from Ottesen High School in 1932. On January 6, 1942 she married Vernon Wilke in Oakland, CA. The couple resided in Oakland while Mr. Wilke was in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Captain Wilke was killed in an airplane crash on January 26, 1944, after which she moved to Webster City. She was a bookkeeper for Forrester Creamery for several years, worked as a cashier at the Webster Theatre and was a bank teller at Farmers National Bank for 22 years until retiring in 1972. Survivors include her son, Jim Wilke of Fort Dodge; grandchildren, Mike, Linda, Kevin, and Jon Wilke; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Vernon, she was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Viola Vernon; Earleen Eckstein; and Vivian Wood. Lois was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and was active in the church circles. She also was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Webster City. Private family graveside services will be held at Graceland Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Arrangements were made with the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center.
