Lila Hunter, 86, of Webster City, died Sunday, May 15, 2011 at Crestview Senior Living. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Asbury United Methodist Church, with Rev. Linda Bibb officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday and at the church on Friday prior to the service. Lila Mae Bever, daughter of Frank and Leah Robbins Bever, was born August 6, 1924 on a farm southwest of Webster City. She graduated from Lincoln High at Webster City in 1941. She worked at Northwestern Bell Telephone for 41/2 years. On October 11, 1942, she married Marvin J. Williams. Marvin died May 10, 1944, he was lost on a mission over Austria during W.W. II. On February 17, 1946, she married Robert Bruce Hunter at the Asbury United Methodist Church in Webster City. The couple farmed for 8 years northeast of Webster City and also farmed southeast of Stanhope. In 1983, they moved to Webster City. On July 30, 1972, she graduated from LaJames Beauty School at Fort Dodge. She worked with Adena Shepherd as a beautician in Stanhope for 19 years. Lila operated her own beauty shop (Crest Cut and Curl) for 18 years at Crestview. Mrs. Hunter is survived by her husband, Bruce; daughter, Pat (Dennis) Thompson of Jewell; son, Robert (Joan) Hunter of Savage, MN; grandchildren, Mark and Kelly Thompson, Brian and Pauley Thompson, Schad and Amy Hunter, Kelley and Jason Harmon and Amber Lahti; great-grandchildren, Braden and Ryan Hunter, Bryce and Dane Thompson, Ada and Emerson Harmon, Nailah and Oriah Mcghee; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Everett and Franklin Bever; sister-in-law, Frances Magleby and nephew, Michael Magleby. She was a former member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, northwest of Jewell and a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church. Other memberships included the W.D.K Club and the C.I.C. Club. Lila enjoyed her family and very much her many years of hairstyling. She loved making people feel good about themselves which in turn made her feel good.
