Leslie Moland

Leslie H. Moland, 76, of Webster City, died Friday, January 23, 2009 at the Hamilton Hospital. Graveside memorial services will be held 12:00 p.m. Saturday, January 31, 2009 at the Evergreen Cemetery in Jewell with Rev. Robert A. Miller officiating. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post #191 of Webster City. Arrangements were made with the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center. Leslie Harry Moland, son of Harold and Lula Shay Moland was born on October 21, 1932 in Ashland, WI. He received his education and graduated from Ondossagon High School in Barksdale, WI. During the Korean War, he served with the U.S. Air Force. On November 22, 1953 he married LaVonne L. Sprague in Sacramento, CA. The couple resided in Sacramento until 1962, when he was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force at the rank of sergeant. That same year, the couple moved to Milwaukee, WI. where they had resided until moving in 1972, to Jackson, MN. In 1974, they moved to Webster City where they had lived until moving to Jewell in 1993. Mr. Moland's main vocation was as a truck driver, where he had worked for several area businesses until his retirement in 1994. Mrs. Moland died December 13, 2000. Survivors include his sons, David Moland of Eagan, MN and fiancé Terri Alston of Coon Rapids, MN; James and wife Jill Moland of Bondurant; grandchildren, Heather and husband Rick Rockensock, Erik Moland, Josh Moland, Jordan Moland, Brandon Cook, and Lindsey Cook; great grandchildren, Katrina and Ryan Rockensock. In addition to his wife LaVonne, he was also preceded in death by his parents. He was a member of the United Church of Christ in Jewell. His memberships included the American Legion Post #191, Moose Family Center both in Webster City; and the Lions Club in Jewell.
