Lee Howe

Lee W. Howe, 87, of Webster City, died Saturday, December 22, 2012 at the Van Diest Medical Center. Memorial services will be held on Friday, December 28, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church, with Rev. Terra A mundson officiating. Burial will be in the Williams Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the memorial service. Lee Walter Howe, son of Earl and Edith Nelson Howe, was born March 12, 1925 on a farm near Storm Lake. The family resided at Dayton, then moved to Williams. He graduated from Williams Public School in 1942 and started farming with his father. He served in the U.S. Army - Artillery from June 1945 to November 1946 and was discharged with the rank of sergeant. While stationed at Fort Knox, KY, he met Mary Elva Rodgers, whom he married on January 13, 1947, at Louisville, KY. They returned to Williams to farm. In 1953, they moved to a farm near McIntyre. In 1960, they moved to Osage, where he worked as a mechanic at the Ford Dealership. In 1964, they returned to Williams where he farmed and worked at Morton Frozen Foods. He then worked at Farmland Foods at Iowa Falls until his retirement in 1980. They moved to Webster City in 1991. Lee is survived by his wife, Mary; daughters, Mary Wagner (Rich Nordorf) of Highland, WI; Connie Madole of Webster City; grandchildren, Brian (Annette) Wagner, Aaron (Tracey) Wagner, Dawn (Mark) Froiseth, Kim (Chad) Pennington, Kristen Madole Reyes and Scott (Ashley) Madole; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Evelyn Ostrander of Madrid; brothers, Paul (Mary) Howe of Boone; Wayne (CJ) Howe and Merlin (Judy) Howe, all of Texas; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Orville and George Howe and sister, Virginia Strauser. He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, was a 50+ year member of the Iowa Falls Masonic Lodge # 192 - AF & AM and was a member of the Williams American Legion Post # 633.
