Kathryn "Kat" Barrick, 50, of Blairsburg, died Saturday, October 29, 2011, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home at Fort Dodge. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, November 5, 2011 at the Foster Chapel, with Rev. Linda Bibb officiating. Burial will be in the Blairsburg Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the Celebration of Life. Arrangements were made with the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center. Kathryn Leigh Burkhart, daughter of Eugene and Karen Clayton Burkhart, was born December 9, 1960 at Washington, D. C. She graduated from South High School in Denver, CO. She had also resided at Clovis, NM and Mildenhall, England. She had served in the U. S. Air Force. On July 26, 1998, she married Scott D. Barrick at the 7-B Ranch in Webster City. The couple owned and operated the Silver Dollar at Blairsburg. She also worked as a graphic designer and owned Ideas by Kat. Being an accomplished chef and an artist were also her gifts. Kat is survived by her husband, Scott; her children, Geoffery Ray; Gregory Ray and Brittany Ray, all of Tulsa, OK; Zachary Tomasko of Binghamton, NY; step-children, Travis Barrick (wife, Heidi) of Apple Valley, MN; Chrystal Pierce (husband, Kendrick) of Clare; Lindsey Barrick (fiancée, Justin Reubel) of Callender; mother and step-father, Karen and Robert Sacasky of Amherst, VA; step-sisters, Susan(husband, David) Witkowski and Marianne Conway, all of Baltimore, MD; grandmother, Marie Clayton of Cherokee and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Eugene Burkhart and grandfather, Clinton Clayton. She was baptized in the United Methodist Church at Pierson. Kat was a member of A.B.A.T.E., loved Broadway shows and was a Broncos fan. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home at Fort Dodge.
