Joyce Dakin

Joyce Dakin, 66, of Ames, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2014 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services will be on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center with Pastor Mike Morton officiating. Burial will be in Cass Township Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Joyce Dee Dakin was born on August 23, 1947 in Webster City, the daughter of Warren E. and Grace L. Abbott Dakin. Joyce graduated from North East Hamilton High School in 1965, Americana Academy of Beauty in Des Moines in July of 1966 and DMACC with three AAA's and many specialized degrees and certificates. Joyce married Jerold Frank "Jake" Merrill in Stockton, MO in July of 1985. To this union three children were born, son Joshua David and twin daughters Jillian Denise and Jianna Dee. Joyce is survived by her daughter Jianna (Joseph) Seiler of Ames and two very special friends and their families, Patricia Tesch and Tina Simmons. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jerold, son Joshua and daughter Jillian, who both died in infancy and her fiancé, best friend and soul mate, Leland Joseph Shimon.
