Irene Carstens, 96, of Webster City, died Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at the Crestview Nursing and Rehabilitation. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Foster Chapel, with Rev. John Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center one hour before the service. Irene Viola Miller, daughter of Sidney and Welda Davis Miller, was born February 19, 1917 in Webster City. She received her education in the Webster City school system, graduating from Lincoln High in 1935. On June 3, 1941, she married William (Willy) August Carstens at Princeton, MO. She had worked at the Stop and Shop Grocery Store in Webster City. She also helped her husband when they farmed near Blairsburg for 23 years. They moved to Webster City in 1957. Willy died April 9, 2005. She had resided at Crestview since November of 2006. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, George Morgan; brothers, Phillip Miller and Merle Morgan; sister, Marie Brooks and half-sister, Mable Wood.
