Genevieve Steuerwald, 92, of Webster City, passed on to be with her Lord on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at the Southfield Wellness Community. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Asbury United Methodist Church, with Rev. Jay Amundson officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday and at the church prior to the service. Genevieve Marie Iles, daughter of Grover and Maggie Malmberg Iles, was born September 13, 1919 on the family farm near Stratford. She received her education and graduated from Stratford high school in 1937. On December 24, 1937, she married Melvin Harlan Steuerwald at Stanhope. The couple resided at Gowrie then farmed south of Webster City. In 1965, they moved to Webster City. She had worked at Jack and Jill's Clothing, Fleak's Hardware and for 17 years at Farm Journal. Mr. Steuerwald passed away November 23, 1985. Gen had resided at Southfield since April of 2010. Genevieve is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Judy Steuerwald of Duncombe; grandchildren, Jason and Candy Steuerwald; Heather and Paul Larson, all of Webster City; great-grandchildren, Sierra Steuerwald; Colby and Erin Larson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold and Esther Iles of Webster City; Merlin and Lourene Iles of Stratford; Marge Iles of Dayton; Audrey Iles of Indianola; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; great-grandson Alex Logan Steuerwald; brothers, Clifford, Donald, Myron and Kenneth Iles; sister-in-law, Shirley Iles; nephew, Gregory Iles and special friend, Robert Johnson. Mrs. Steuerwald was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Town and Country Garden Club, S.O.S. Club, Webster City Women's Club, Hospital Auxiliary, Methodist Adult Forum and several church circles. She especially enjoyed time spent with family and friends.
