Cornelia Lukehart Profile Photo
Our mother passed away peacefully with family by her side on November 9th at Westwood Nursing Home in Sioux City, Iowa. She was born on September 26, 1922 to our grandparents, Roy & Jenny Mills of Webster City, Iowa. Mother was a life-long devoted member of the Church of Christ, where she was baptized and raised. She graduated high school in Webster City and attended junior college, and then transferred to Iowa State University. She graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Early Childhood Education. Upon graduation she married our father Joe Lukehart on April 15, 1946, and that is where we come in; Jeffery (Mary) Lukehart - McMinnville Oregon, Kirk (Nickie) Lukehart - Dakota Dunes South Dakota, Amy (Steve) Davis - West Des Moines Iowa and Thomas (Theresa) Lukehart - Springfield Missouri along with her grandchildren; Erika Gravert, Erin Bonstead, Alex Lukehart, Hollyn Spikes, Kaitlyn Edwards, Allie Spikes, Joshua Lukehart, Sarah Lukehart and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded to heaven by our father Joe Lukehart, her parents Roy & Jenny Mills, sister Diana Wilson and brother Dr. Guy Mills. Our mother loved Webster City as did our father Joe. She remained very active in our community and was involved in the Church of Christ, Women's Circle, Sunday school teacher, Adult Sunday School and had wonderful life-long Church friendships. She was also involved in PTA, Eastern Star, Women's Club, Election Ballots and her favorite group the "Golden Girls" with; Beverly, Elizabeth and Vi. Our parents were chosen, and very honored, to be the University of Northern Iowa Parents of the year in 1978 as reflected by this obituary picture. It was our mother's wish to be cremated and have a graveside funeral service with family and extended family only. We send our heartfelt love and gratitude to her extended family and life-long friends who were so kind and caring. So many wonderful memories of you as well of those who are gone. Memorial donations may be made in her name to: The Iowa State Foundation c/o Childhood Development Program, 2505 University Blvd, Ames, IA 50010. Fondly, Jeff, Kirk, Amy and Thom
