Cordelia Gumina

Cordelia A. Gumina, 79, of South Riding, Virginia passed away peacefully on February 8th 2014. Cordelia was born in Hamilton County, Iowa to Carl and Ethel Whisler. She graduated from Woolstock High School where she was an accomplished student and basketball player. She started her career with the United States government as a civil servant in Washington D.C. There she met the love of her life, Leo Gumina and they married in 1957. Cordelia will be greatly missed by her four children, Mike Gumina and spouse Julie of Johnston Iowa, Jim Gumina of Western Springs Illinois, Tim Gumina and spouse Karen of Littleton Colorado and Mary Zimbelman and spouse Darrell of South Riding Virginia. Cordelia was a wonderful grandmother to her eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Cordelia and Leo loved to travel and enjoyed many cruise ship trips with their friends and family. They also enjoyed their beach house and traveling the country visiting family. Cordelia was preceded in death by her parents, her sister and her husband Leo. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice or to the family for future designation.
