Celestine " Sally " O'Connor Propeck, 101, of Webster City, died Saturday, September 21, 2013 at Crestview Nursing and Rehabilitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, with Rev. Stephen Meyer, celebrant. Burial will be in the St. Vincent Cemetery at Springfield, South Dakota. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday and at the church prior to the Mass. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. followed by a scripture service. Celestine Gertrude O'Connor, daughter of John and Thresa Fleege O'Connor, was born August 9, 1912 at the Garryowen Community near Burbank, South Dakota. She graduated from St. Catherine's Academy in Jackson, Nebraska in 1931 with a degree in elementary education. On October 13, 1940, she married Carl E. Propeck at Papillion, NE. The couple resided at Sioux City for 30 years then they moved to Springfield where she was food service director for the University of South Dakota for 20 years, retiring in 1983. Carl died January 7, 1970. Sally wintered in Texas for a short time before moving to Webster City in 1988. Mrs. Propeck is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Betty Propeck of Jamestown, ND; step-son, John and Mary Propeck of Dakota Dumes, SD; five grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; sister, Geraldine Duffy of Webster City; brother, Howard O'Connor of Vermillion; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Burdette, Clem, Allen and Leonard O'Connor; sisters, Leona O'Connor, Mary Clair Kramer and Burnette O'Connor. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of America, an avid Bridge player, enjoyed bingo, made quilts for Octoberfest, St. Judes Children's Hospital and a Veterans Hospital.
