Carmen Sweazey, 81, of Webster City, died Tuesday, February 12, 2013, at Crestview Nursing and Rehabilitation. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 18, 2013 at the Foster Chapel, with Rev. Dave Simonson officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at Fosters from 11:00 a.m. to service time on Monday. Carmen Eileen Burnside, daughter of Martin and Ethyl Kellog Burnside, was born March 18, 1931 at Williams. She received her education in the Williams and Webster City school systems. On May 20, 1946, she married George Marvin Sweazey at Fort Dodge. The couple resided in Webster City. She had worked at K and M Laundry, Curve Inn, Katy's Café, Winnabago for 12 years and Congregate Meals and in the early 60's, they owned and operated a restaurant at Gladbrook, IA. She retired in 1993. Mrs. Sweazey is survived by her husband, George; daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela Black of Le Claire; Terry (Dennis) Manning of Bondurant; Christine (Bruce) Hovey of South Sioux City, NE; Cheryl (Steve) Willardsen of Wichita, KS; son, George Sweazey Jr. of Webster City; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Charles (Chuck) Sweazey. Family was very important to Carmen, she and George cherished that valuable time together. She enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing music in George's Country Combo Band and at many bluegrass festivals. She especially enjoyed the many destinations they traveled to during their time delivering Winnebago motor homes.
