Bonnieta B. Ambrose Fye RN passed away at home on July 3, 2013. She had turned 89 on June 22. She was born to George and Bessie Lester Ambrose in 1924, in Webster City, Iowa. She graduated from Webster City High School in 1943; later, she went back to school and earned her RN certification from Allen Memorial Nursing Program in 1959 and her Bachelor of Arts degree from Upper Iowa University in 1962. Most of Bonnieta's nursing career was spent caring for veterans at the Veterans Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. She loved serving her country by providing compassion and care for veterans from WWII, Korean and Viet Nam conflicts. Bonnieta loved America and loved Iowa; her state legislators and U.S. Congressmen and Senators received information from her regularly about our environment and everything that impacts it. She also contacted them about health, energy, minority, and veterans' issues, and peace. She not only studied the issues and talked the talk, but Bonnieta walked the walk by donating money, protesting and picketing, being politically active, and providing a home and education for many people from all walks of life. She loved and was loved by many. Bonnieta Ambrose was married to James Fye; they later divorced. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Bessie Ambrose, her brother, Russell Ambrose, her brother and sister-in-law, Chet and Marge Ambrose, and her nephew, Bill Ambrose. Bonnieta is survived by her sister-in-law, Mary Ambrose Lindquist, Nieces and nephews, Nancy and Doug Bailey, Marcia Logan, Laura Greene, Greg, George, Marion, Ken, and Ben Ambrose, and all of their families. Bonnieta donated her body to the Deeded Body Program for Scientific Purposes at the University of Iowa. Her cremains will be interred at Graceland Cemetery in Webster City, next year. Memorials may be given to Kendall Young Library in Webster City.
