Betty Jean Bagenstos, daughter of Ray and Katherine Schubert Bagenstos, was born December 10, 1929 in Ida County. She graduated from Holstein High School in 1947. Betty received her nursing degree from Broadlawns Memorial Hospital in Des Moines. On August 1, 1953, she married Henry Witt. The couple resided at Scranton, ND where she worked at hospitals in Bowman and Hettinger, ND; Wellman, Iowa working as a family practice nurse and at Tipton, Iowa in a family practice. In 1965, they moved to Webster City. She was a homemaker and was employed as Asbury Methodist church secretary for 25 years, retiring in 1995. Betty is survived by her husband, Henry (Hank); son, Kurt Witt of Kansas City, MO; daughters and sons-in-law, Katie and Monte Imming of Rochester, MN; Laura and Tom McMahon of Clive, IA; Emily and Peter Gantt of Seattle, WA; grandchildren, Erin and Haley Imming, Sydney and Gabe McMahon; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Katie Bagenstos; brothers, Robert and Richard Bagenstos and a sister, Daisy. Betty was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church, very active in numerous areas of the church; hospice volunteer nurse; and a member of P.E.O. Chapter E.L. Hank and Betty volunteered two weeks every year for 10 years at UMCOR/Sager Brown. Betty's hobbies included baking, sewing and gardening. Betty especially loved her grandchildren and enjoyed watching their growth in life.
