Betty Johnson, 83, of Stanhope, died at her home and went to be with her Lord and Savior for a well deserved rest, on February 2, 2011. She was surrounded by her loving family. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, at the Stanhope Parish, with Pastor Suzie Moore officiating. Burial will be in the Cass Township Cemetery, north of Webster City. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday and after 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Church. Betty Lorene Mullins, second of four daughters of Cecil and Elsie Black Mullins, was born in Blairsburg on June 20, 1927. She received her education in the Blairsburg Public School. On October 31, 1943, she married Howard Johnson at the home of her parents. To this union three children were born. The couple were later divorced. She had been employed at several places - Stanhope Locker, Nissen Meats at Webster City, Ellsworth Turkey Plant, Carriage House Meats at Ames and in food service at Iowa State University. Betty is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Ed Haman of Stratford; sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Carol Johnson of Marshalltown; Randy and Becky Johnson of Eastman, WS; grandchildren, Lee and Paige Maples of West Palm Beach, FL; Rob Maples of Royal Palm Beach, FL; Joe and Stacey Maples of Camdenton, MO; Jennifer and Jason Stollenwerk of Bend, OR; Casey Johnson (Carl Ruff) of Luana, IA; Lake Johnson of Houston, TX; John Johnson of Urbandale; Adam Johnson of Marshalltown; Catherine Johnson of Aurora, CO; step-grandchildren; Lance and Kelly Haman of Stratford; Jill Haman of Stanhope; 11 great-grandchildren; 5 step-great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Patricia and Gene Grable of Beaumont, CA; Marilyn and Emmett Timm of Webster City; several niecesa and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Charlotte Brott; step-grandson, Lon Haman and nephew, Tim Grable.
