Dr. Anil Kumar Sahai, 61, Webster City, passed away on July 16, 2012. A remembrance service will be held Saturday, July 21, at 11 a.m. at Prem Sahai Auditorium in Webster City High School. Dr. Anil was born in New Delhi, India, to Dr. Prem Nath Sahai & Mrs. Urmila Sahai. He came to the United States in 1967. He earned his PhD in electrical engineering from Iowa State University before receiving his D.O. from Des Moines University. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Iowa Methodist Medical Center and became board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and a fellow of the American College of Physicians. He holds patents for his medicine dispensing system and a real-time music recognition and display system. Dr. Anil K. Sahai had practiced internal medicine at the Webster City Medical Clinic since 1983. He was also chair of internal medicine and director/chair of the Critical Care Committee at Van Diest Medical Center, Webster City. Dr. Sahai served DMU and University of Iowa's medical community in multiple ways. A member of the DMU Board of Trustees since 2006, he was recently named the 2012 College of Osteopathic Medicine Alumnus of the Year. He was an adjunct clinical associate professor at DMU since 1987 and a preceptor for the University of Iowa internal medicine residency program since 1994. He also served on the dean's advisory council for Iowa State's College of Engineering. Along with his extensive professional career, Dr. Sahai had been an active member in the Indian community state-wide. He served as the Board of Trustees Chairman to the Hindu Temple & Cultural Center of Iowa, which was founded by his father. His passions in life included service to his patients, the state of Iowa, his Hindu faith and his family. He was married to his wife, Nutan Sahai, for 37 years. In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his mother, Urmila Sahai; brother & sister-in-law Subhash & Sushma Sahai; sisters & brothers-in-law, Shashi & Anil Agarwal and Neena & Subhash Gupta; daughter & son-in-law, Preeti &Tarun Mirchandani; sons & daughter-in-law Ashish & Kavita Sahai and Nikhil Sahai; grandchildren, Eshaan Mirchandani, Anik Sahai & Aryana Sahai; many nieces and nephews; and the entire Webster City Medical Clinic family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hindu Temple & Cultural Center (HTCC), 709 White Post Drive, Webster City, IA 50595.
