Alice Mccoy

Alice McCoy, 91, of Webster City, died on Monday, June 10, 2013 at the Van Diest Medical Center. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 13, 2013 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, with Rev. Stephen Meyer officiating. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be at Fosters on Wednesday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with rosary and scripture service at 6:45 p.m. Alice Ilene Desher, daughter of Samuel and Agnes (Hoisington) Desher, was born September 25, 1921 in Eldora. She attended Hardin and Hamilton County schools. On March 23, 1940, she married Gerald "Jerry" McCoy in Rock Rapids, Iowa. The couple resided in Burlington and moved to Webster City in the 1940s. They started McCoy's Grocery in 1947 and operated the business until 1982. Jerry preceded her in death on March 27, 1997. She is survived by her children, Ron and Carolyn McCoy, Bob McCoy, Karen and Jerry Peterson, Jan McCoy; all of Webster City and Sue and Jennifer McCoy of Sioux City; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Lois Mason of Webster City and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she is preceded by her parents, son Roger, brothers, Earl, Donald, Gene, Charles, and Lyle; sisters, Agnes, Louella, Etta, Mavis, Dolores and Margaret. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. She enjoyed bowling but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
