Alice Hadaway, 91, of Stanhope, died Thursday, April 1, 2010 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, with Rev. Joe Lambert officiating. Burial will be in the Lawn Hill Cemetery, southeast of Stanhope. Visitation will be two hours before the service. Arrangements were made with the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center. Alice Arlene Wing, daughter of Theodore and Christina Monson Wing, was born February 15, 1919 on a farm northwest of Stanhope. She graduated from Stanhope High School in 1937. On July 23, 1938, she married Donald Clair Hadaway at the Little Brown Church at Nashua. The Couple farmed northeast of Stanhope. She worked as a telephone operator for several years, she also worked at Quaker Oats, Cargill Elevator and Hove Truck Line. The couple moved to Three Rivers, Michigan but returned to Stanhope in 1945. They farmed south of Stanhope until July of 1995, then moved to Stanhope. Mr. Hadaway died August 3, 2004. Alice is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Joan Hadaway of Dundee, MI; grandchildren, Kelley Hadaway of Bartlesville, OK; Shawn (Karl) Curtis of Jewell; Rob (Barb) Hadaway of Webster City; Shannon Schafer of Jewell; 7 great-grandchildren; 3 step-great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; 2 step-great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Helen Wing and Shirley Hadaway; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by 5 brothers; 3 sisters, one died in infancy, and a grandson. Alice was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church and was active in Ladies Aid.
